Why Bar Soap?

Whats going on bar soap community, back with another post, this one has been in my head and practiced in various conversations for a while but finally putting keys to text.

People keep asking me, why bar soap? What is wrong with body wash?

First of all, nothing is wrong with body wash, if that is your jam then go for it, but you can for sure leave the blog as this is not for you. For the person who uses body wash but is bar soap curious...read on!

1) I just like it. It is simple.  I shouldn't need a reason why it is better than something else, I like bar soap and that is about it.  It brings me joy to my showering routine.

2) The feel of the bar. I think you get a much more intimate shower experience with the bar, I like holding it in one hand and lathering with the other, then switching hands throughout the shower experience, a constant rotation.  I feel like I get a more detailed scrub and lather experience than I used to with body wash.

3) I think the bar is best for bald dudes, we don't use shampoo and I don't really like putting body wash on my head, it feels weird. A quality bar, that is music to my clean shaven dome.  I am sure they make fancy head wash, and if you have one you love let me know, but I think that is a wee bit superfluous. I will use face wash on both my face and head after I am done with the bar process.

4) I hated when you pour the body wash onto your hand and then it falls down to drain, it seems to get everywhere. I understand a Loofah would fix this but that was never my jam.

5) While not my initial reason for the switch, it is a bit more eco friendly, no plastic bottles etc.

6) This one no longer applies to me but it is cheaper...lol that was before I found $50 dollar bars, so you know..... This is not a blog for budget soap, this is a blog for indulgence, for luxurious time in the shower, for making yourself feel special each day.

Cons: Let me just say this is not a blog to nay say bar soap, but in due fairness here is what I found on the internet

1) It can cause people's skin to dry out more. Has not been the case for me, and I would say if you get dried out from Irish Spring...maybe you just need a different bar.

2) More alkaline, due to the bar formulation the pH will be higher. This is why it dries skin out more.

  1. My fellow bald dude—greatest blog post ever. I have always hated body wash—half of it goes down the drain, what a waste. I’m a bald dude and happy bar user. Keep the blog going. You’re on to something.
